In 2024, Museum de Fundatie's programme focuses on collection building. Here we do not look at period or style, but rather at thematic connections between different works. In this presentation, you will meet old acquaintances and new loves from the collection.
Collections are created by the preferences of a specific time; changes in taste, appreciation for certain creators and societal developments mean that a historically grown collection can lose relevance. Research can help shine a new light on familiar works of art, and new acquisitions add weight to specific motifs and themes.
By enriching and broadening the collection with more perspectives, new stories emerge. On the one hand, we thereby open up our collection to new perspectives; on the other hand, we ourselves search for new connections and stories, which were already enclosed in our collection all along. In this way, the museum collection is increasingly becoming a reflection of society.
In Kasteel het Nijenhuis in Heino/Wijhe, Museum de Fundatie's outdoor location, there is also an extensive presentation of the collection.
