Significant photography donation by Pieter and Marieke Sanders.
From June 8 at Museum de Fundatie: Northern Light: Nature Photography. This exhibition centers on the photographic vision of nature and the relationship between humans and nature. Northern Light: Nature Photography highlights subjects such as cycles in nature, human interventions in nature, including the disruption of ecological balance, and how the human condition is reflected in relation to nature. Over 100 artworks are on display, including approximately 50 works by Finnish photographers from the collection of collector couple Pieter and Marieke Sanders, which they are donating to Museum de Fundatie.
The exhibition has been supplemented with another forty works from the collection of Pieter and Marieke Sanders and several paintings and photographs from the museum's own collection. In addition, five artists were asked to create their own presentations: Marijke van Warmerdam, Koos Breukel, Awoiska van der Molen, Nadja Bournonville, and Miklos Gaàl. The guest curator of Northern Light: Nature Photography is Maarten Bertheux.
Conversation with Marieke Sanders and Maarten Bertheux
On June 22, attend a public conversation with art collector Marieke Sanders and guest curator Maarten Bertheux, interviewed by journalist and art critic Edo Dijksterhuis.
Marieke Sanders will speak about the remarkable art collection that she and Pieter Sanders amassed together over the course of their lives, a selection of which is now being donated to Museum de Fundatie. The donation, centered on some 50 works by Finnish photographers, will be on display throughout the summer starting June 8 in the exhibition Northern lights: Nature photography – curated by guest curator Maarten Bertheux.
Photo marathon
Come to Museum de Fundatie on Saturday, July 13, to participate in a summer Photo Marathon. Who knows, your photo might end up hanging in the museum this summer.
Be inspired by the exhibition Northern lights: Nature photography, and head out into and around Zwolle to capture that perfect shot. For an entire afternoon, you will take a photo every hour based on a theme sent to you via app – that is the photo marathon at Museum de Fundatie.
A selection of the most beautiful, original, or moving photos will be exhibited in the museum.
