Inspired by the adventures of explorer Jacques Cousteau, this film brings the little-known underwater world of the North Sea to life.
Experienced diver and cameraman Peter van Rodijnen has been filming in seas all over the world for the past 20 years. Now he has decided to capture the underwater world of the North Sea on film. So close, yet at the same time so unknown: the North Sea, our country’s largest nature reserve! Initially, he thought he would mainly be filming large and iconic species in the North Sea, such as the basking shark, the orca and the tuna. But he soon realised that these are merely part of a much larger and interconnected system. He also realised that the health of the North Sea depends on all its inhabitants, from the tiniest plankton to the largest shark. With stunning imagery, the film reveals a spectacular underwater world that is completely unknown to most of us.
