In conversation with the deep sea

by explorer and biologist Arita Baaijens

The Dutch regard the sea as a place where you can do all sorts of things: fishing, surfing, erecting wind turbines, drilling for gas. Nothing is asked of the sea itself. That’s rather strange, because what do the seaweed and the oyster want? Things could be different. But where do you start? What language do you use to engage in dialogue with one another? Explorer and biologist Arita Baaijens takes you along on her quest. Together with artists, scientists and philosophers, she sought answers. She also offers a sneak peek at her new book *Kosmos*, in which life in the deep sea plays a key role.

Curious about what the sea has to tell us? Then come along to this thought-provoking presentation.

Arita Baaijens is the author of, amongst other works, the book ‘In conversation with the North Sea’.
