Linder Sterling (born 1954, Liverpool, UK) lives and works in Heysham and London, UK. She is known for her photography, radical feminist photomontages and confrontational performances. She was the frontwoman of the post-punk band Ludus. She studied graphic design at the Polytechnic (1974–77). In December 1976, she began creating montages using photographic material.
Linder’s work is held in the collections of the Musée d’Art Moderne, Paris; the Victoria & Albert Museum, London; the Arts Council Collection, London; the Deste Foundation for Contemporary Art, Athens; the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; and the Tate, London. In 2017, she received the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Award.
