In the 17th Heaven is a new art installation by visual artist Chourouk Hriech. Museum de Fundatie invited her to create an artwork to accompany the exhibition At Home with Ter Borch. This commission is part of the programme Art in the Vide. In the 17th Heaven can be seen at the Vide and in the auditorium of Museum de Fundatie in Zwolle.
An ode to drawing
At first glance, Chourouk Hriech and the Ter Borch family seem to have little in common. They lived in different times, come from different countries and produce very different work. But they have one important thing in common: they draw. The way houses are depicted in the paintings of the Ter Borch family and the old buildings in Zwolle inspire Hriech.
In the 17th Heaven is an artwork with drawings on the walls of the Vide. In this work, Hriech explores how objects, landscapes and buildings - often from other countries - have become part of our art and history. And how these things help us understand the world as well as give us an image of it. Like a landscape, In 17th Heaven is an invitation to look at drawings as a place for fantasy and memory. A place where new stories can emerge - together and alone.
